ROCK FOR AMELIA
The Hamilton Station Hotel has teamed up with some of the best bands in Newy to help raise money for Amelia Keam and her rehabilitation after a stroke-induced spinal injury. Local ten-piece funk outfit Saylor & The Flavor will headline the night, alongside Hey Lenny, Aunty Alan & The Uncools, FAHM, IV, and Loose Zipperz.

Last month Amelia was here at The Hamo, enjoying a night of live music with some mates. She suddenly felt dizzy, and as she went to leave, lost consciousness and went into cardiac arrest. We were lucky to have two off-duty members of the Australian Defence Force here to assist your team until the ambulance could arrive. The paramedics at the scene said her heart had stopped but she was revived and rushed to John Hunter Hospital, where she was placed in an induced coma to stabilise her condition.
Amelia suffered a stroke that disrupted the blood flow to the connection between her brainstem and spinal cord, which controls motor reflexes. As a result, she is now paralysed from the neck down and requires a ventilator to breathe. This rare condition means Amelia is fully conscious and aware, but paralysed from the neck down. Communication is by mouthing words and using eye movements. She is unable to produce any sound because a ventilator is breathing for her.
Amelia’s friends and family have setup a GoFundMe to help assist in her long road to recovery. Early intervention with intensive spinal rehabilitation is critical to help her regain as much function as possible. We're pitching in with a massive six-band show, headlined by professional party starters Saylor & The Flavor. 100% of the funds raised on the night through ticket sales (and other charity efforts TBA) will be donated directly to the GoFundMe.
The road ahead will be extremely long and challenging, requiring the care of an entire team of medical professionals, including spinal and neurology specialists, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, and case managers, along with the unwavering support of family and friends.
She is facing mounting medical expenses, including treatments, therapies, and daily living costs, which are adding up quickly. Your generous contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference and help alleviate some of the financial burden on Amelia and her family, allowing her to focus on what’s most important—her healing.
